Barbie ‘I Can Be…’ Event a Great Success

More than 75 girls explored a variety of careers at GSGWM’s Bedford headquarters Saturday, August 9. The career day was part of a celebration of Girl Scouts’ partnership with Mattel and the newest Girl Scout Barbie.

Barbie has had almost 150 careers in her lifetime, and Mattel and Girl Scouts of the USA want girls to know that they can “Be anything, and do everything.”

Girls donned firefighter “turnout” gear, sat in the driver’s seat of a race car, built gum-drop and toothpick structures and tested their sturdiness with pennies, brushed giant teeth, counted bones, made bookmarks, explored the odds with a mathematician, designed Barbie fashions out of duct tape, and more. Thank you to everyone who came and presented!
