Becoming a Girl Scout FAQs

How old does my daughter need to be to join? Girls can join our organization in grades K-12.

Is financial aid available? Financial aid to cover the annual membership fee is available.

Is there a troop in my town? There are Girl Scout troops throughout New Hampshire and Vermont. Participation in a troop is not limited to the town you live in. In fact, many troops do have girls participating from their surrounding community. Girls are welcome to participate in troops with schedules that fit their own.

Can she choose to participate in more than one pathway at a time? Yes, all pathways are available to every member. For example: a girl may attend a one day event with her parent, participate in troop meetings and attend summer camp. Learn more about Pathways.

Once she becomes a member, when will I be contacted regarding a troop placement if she chooses the troop pathway? You will be contacted by a local volunteer or staff person who will inquire as to which pathways your daughter is interested in participating.  In the meantime, girls can participate in any of the other pathways immediately.

How can I volunteer? We are a volunteer run organization and always have volunteer opportunities available. Your first step is to complete an application and become a member of the organization. Shortly afterwards, you will be contacted by a volunteer or staff person who will discuss the volunteer opportunities available in your community.
