Girl Scout Mission

Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.

Strategic Learning 2010

The Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains is excited to announce that the Strategic Learning process is nearing completion. This is how we got here.

  • On January 28, 2010, the Board identified three key focus areas and on January 29th the Strategic Learning Kick Off was held. The Kick Off was attended by the sponsors, facilitator, the Council Strategy Team and our Girl Scouts of the USA consultant. Five situation analysis teams were formed and have begun the important first step in the Strategic Learning process by asking the right questions and gaining insight so that we are able to make sense of our changing environment. Please view this slide show to see what questions the teams will be diving deep to answer.
  • A retreat was held March 11-12 to determine our Key Priorities and develop our Winning Proposition. The following 5 Key Priorities is what we will be focusing on for the next 3 years.
    • Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains must articulate our value and engage our stakeholders in The Movement.
    • Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains must increase our public support and achieve operational efficiencies.
    • Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains must strengthen our internal capacity to effectively implement the leadership experience.
    • Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains must develop and improve the volunteer experience for all volunteers from recruitment to retention.
    • Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains must develop and implement a property master plan based upon our program needs.
  • Five Gap Teams have been developed based on the 5 Key Priorities. The beginning of the Gap Team work was started by the Strategic Learning Team at Edith Macy Conference Center on April 18-20. Continued Gap Team work will now begin with additional staff and volunteers to help us move from where we are to where we need to go.
  • The Winning Proposition is:
Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains: Where Girls Lead ... Girls Rule! We welcome and inspire girls to have fun, develop friendships and make a difference in their community through our innovative leadership program.
  • Attend a Strategic Learning Update Forum to find out how GSGWM will make the best choices on where GSGWM will compete, what we will offer, and how we will succeed by generating greater value than our competitors. Members of the Strategic Learning team will present the work so far and seek your input as we close the gaps and arrive at our future state.
